Authorities in Elgin are conducting a death investigation after the body of an unidentified woman was discovered in the Fox River near the Kimball Street Bridge on Sunday afternoon.
According to police, officers responded at approximately 3:51 p.m. to reports of a body in the river just north of the bridge. Upon arrival, responders confirmed that a female—whose identity and age have not yet been determined—was found deceased in the water.
The Elgin Fire Department and the Kane County Coroner’s Office also assisted at the scene as authorities worked to recover the body and secure the area for investigation.
At this time, officials have not released any further details regarding the circumstances surrounding the death, and it remains unclear how the woman ended up in the river.
The case remains under active investigation as authorities work to determine the identity of the deceased and the events leading up to the tragic discovery.
