Family members, friends, and the Lincoln community are mourning the tragic loss of Jon Jefferson, 52, who was killed in a devastating three-vehicle crash Friday morning on Old Furnace Road in Georgetown.
According to Delaware State Police, the crash occurred around 7:20 a.m. in the 14100 block of Old Furnace Road, west of Rementer Road. Investigators reported that Jefferson was driving a Chevrolet Silverado eastbound when, for reasons still under investigation, his vehicle crossed the center line, sideswiped a Toyota Sienna, and then collided head-on with a Nissan Rogue traveling in the opposite direction.
Emergency crews responded to the scene, where they encountered a rollover crash involving entrapment and multiple injured victims. One of the vehicles required extrication, which was completed shortly before 8 a.m. Despite life-saving efforts by first responders, Jefferson was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two other individuals were injured in the crash. A 50-year-old Georgetown woman was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while a 33-year-old man from Seaford sustained serious injuries and was airlifted by Delaware State Police Aviation Trooper 2 to an area hospital for treatment.
